About the Job
In this role, the QA Processing Clerk receives and distributes specimens to the appropriate laboratory section. Processes and prepares specimens for testing and send out. Produces reports for faxing or delivery as needed and communicates appropriate information to the health care team. Ensure accurate registration and placement of test orders with all information required.
Here's what you'll do
Operations
- Manages contracts and LIS registrations; maintains documentation.
- Accurately places patient orders and verifies patient identity.
- Labels and processes specimens appropriately, including send-outs to reference labs.
- Assesses specimen acceptability and supports cost containment efforts.
Customer Service
- Creates a patient-centered, caring environment.
- Builds positive relationships with staff and departments.
- Answers calls promptly and courteously; communicates results and collection details clearly.
Reporting
- Prints, reviews, and distributes computer reports; resolves issues and makes corrections.
Materials Management
- Maintains adequate supply levels in assigned areas.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensures safety and adherence to hospital policies.
- Maintains quality assurance and reports concerns.
- Meets all competency requirements, including population-specific standards.

Pay Range: $20.00 – $26.00 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
