Position Overview
SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)
Oversees daily operations of Capital Health's Screening Center. Works as part of a dynamic inter-disciplinary team to provide emergency mental health services to children, adults, and special populations. Provides clinical supervision to State of New Jersey Certified Mental Health Screeners, both on-site, and within the Community. Engages in all functions that ensure excellent patient care in a least restrictive environment. Assists Screening Center Manager with Screener education, performance improvement projects and development of new policies, procedures and practices related to Screening Center.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Master's degree in psychology, Social Work (MSW), Mental Health counseling, or related clinical area.
- Experience: Two years' experience as State of New Jersey Certified Mental Health Screener or Emergency Services Clinician. One-year supervisory experience. Experience with the serious and persistently mentally ill, as well as individuals with dual diagnoses and all special populations.
- Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Screener - Certified
- Knowledge and Skills: Possesses excellent organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Special Training: License eligible. Social Work or psychology license preferred. LCDAC a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervises staff and assists as Charge person as needed. Assists staff with patient flow/Teletrac king, and chart faxing/pre-certifications. Facilitates pre-certifications pending from evening admissions. Assist as Mobile Outreach team member as needed.
- Maintains employee files to ensure all Screeners are compliant/up to date with licenses, CPR certifications, PPDs, etc.
- Assures appropriate Screener education of new policies, procedures, and practices affecting the Screening Center.
- Collaborates with Mental Health Manager to develop policies, goals, objectives and procedures for the Screening Center.
- Participates in Performance Improvement and Utilization Review process and co-chairs Unit Safety Committee and attends hospital Security management Committee.
- Assists in collaborating with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Reviews patient charts and enters into PI Portal information on Corporate Compliance Risks and Benefits, EMTALA Checklist. Sends Medical Screening Exam compliance, and Privacy Monitory to Corporate Compliance.
- Assists with hiring, training, and supervising of screening staff. Manages Unit Orientation for new employees to assure appropriate training of Screener responsibilities. Works with TAC to obtain Temporary Screener Certification and enrollment in Basic Screener Course.
- Coordinates monthly staff meetings, prepares agenda, and completes minutes.
- Participates in administrative on-call rotation for weekend, evening and holiday scheduling as required.
- Performs other duties as needed.
